Broken Grids: Variations on a Theme I, II & III

Students will explore creating Broken Grids using a "fence" or "plus" block. We will play with color, value, and scale, to begin building a one of a kind piece. The building blocks can be incorporated into a wall hanging that can be finished in class, or students may choose to continue building into a fuller scale project.

Broken Grids: Variations on a Theme I: The Fence Quilt

Using both traditional and improvisational piecing techniques, students will explore different ways of using very similar block types to create a variety of interesting layouts. In this workshop, you will get to play with both technique and design and it is very well suited to working with scrap and upcycled fabrics.
