About the event

Pulling inspiration from Roderick Kiracofe’s book, Unconventional & Unexpected, students will explore creating a “Broken Grid” quilt. Using both traditional and improvisational piecing techniques, students will explore different ways of using very similar block types to create a variety of interesting layouts. We will discuss the use of precision piecing versus improvisation and how the two techniques can be successfully combined in one quilt.

In this workshop, students will get to play with both technique and design and it is very well suited to working with scrap and upcycled fabrics. We will explore working with color, value, and scale, to begin building a one of a kind piece.
