In quilting circles, the Double Wedding Ring block is known to be one of the most advanced patterns in traditional quilting. The maker must work with precision and skill, combining hundreds of small pieces of fabric to fit within a geometrically challenging design.

This quilt plays with those ideas of perfection. While the curved geometry of the design stays the same, the pieces of fabric within the overall shape take on their own forms and play by their own rules. And although the perfect block is not achieved, life goes on, and is maybe better off (or at least more interesting) without it.

This quilt was exhibited at the San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles as part of the Amish: The Modern Muse exhibition
